Clinical psychologists have eight years of psychological training including a Masters of Clinical Psychology. Clinical psychologists specialise in assessing, diagnosing, and treating psychological disorders. They are regarded as having a high level of focussed mental health training amongst Medicare and Australia’s health and mental health industries. It is possible to access services without a referral however if you would like to access a Medicare rebate, you will need a Mental Health Care Plan referral from your GP. Department of vet affairs can get a referral for free sessions through calling Open Arms. If you do not have a valid referral on the day of your appointment, you will not be able to receive a rebate. A Mental Health Care Plan entitles you to ten, rebated sessions per calendar year. All sessions attract a gap fee. For 2022 an additional ten sessions have been funded under the federal governments Covid-19 initiative totalling 20 sessions for 2022 only.
The Medicare initiative covers a number of conditions including: psychotic disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, specific phobias, anxiety disorders, adjustment disorder, depression, sexual disorders, bereavement (grief) disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, eating disorders, panic disorder, alcohol use disorder, drug use disorder, sleep disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and obsessive compulsive disorder.
Sessions are fifty minutes in duration.

Cancellations within 24 hours attract a fee.
